Greater Miami Youth Symphony

GMYS instills, enriches, and inspires young musicians to be the best musicians they can be. With multiple orchestra levels, GMYS exposes students to different genres of instrumental music. They offer a concerto competition for students in the program and a wide variety of resources.

New World Symphony Orchestra

New World Side-by-Side

The New World Symphony offers advanced instrumentalist (7- 12th grade) the opportunity to play along side New World Symphony fellows and receive one-on-one training. Students will participate in sectionals, rehearsals, and a concert. Students have the opportunity to audition for the Concerto Competition (optional). The winner of the Concerto competition will perform during the Side-by-Side Concert.

Alhambra Orchestra

The Alhambra Orchestra is dedicated to showcasing and supporting the exceptional talent of South Florida. This competition is open to middle and high school students and offers the winners a performance with a full orchestra and compete for scholarships. The deadline to apply is in November. Participant go through multiple rounds of auditions.

FMEA Logo

FMEA All-State

FMEA hosts All-State Ensembles who select a number of students from all over Florida to perform a concert at the the FMEA convention in January. Audition for date to All-State is hosted in September. two contrasting pieces, scales, and sight-reading is required to audition.

Miami-Dade County Superintendent Orchestra

Miami-Dade County host its Superintendent Honors Orchestra every Spring. The audition for this orchestra is held in January and the concert is in March. Students prepare two excerpts, scales, and sight-reading. This orchestra is open to all Miami-Dade County students.
